VINHO DA TALHA

The clay amphorae (Talha de Barro) is one of the oldest containers for conserving and transporting liquids. In its larger version, the amphorae, has been used for over two millennia to make wine. In Portugal, the Alentejo has been the great guardian of Amphorae wine (Vinho de Talha), having know how to preserve this vinification process developed by the Romans to this day.

TINTO DA TALHA

This wine was named after roman tradition, still in the south of Portugal, of vinifying the varietals together in a amphorae.

VINHAS VELHAS

Located at the foot of Serra d'Ossa, in Redondo, the old vineyards of Terras de Xisto are part of one of the eight sub-regions of the DOC Alentejo. Worked since 1989 by the Roque do Vale family, in 2017 it joins the Ségur family. Under the oenology of the third generation of the family, Joana Roque do Vale, we produce this wine, whose name is closely linked to the history of wine Alentejo.

Built in the 15th century, the Convent of São Paulo da Serra de Ossa was home to congregations of hermit monks. Its importance for the Portuguese crown is well documented. Writings report that D. Sebastião visits the Convent before leaving for the fateful battle of Alcácer Quivir. Honoring this unique heritage, we produce wines whose identity is linked to the culture of Redondo, in Alentejo.

CHÃO DE XISTO

On the Chão de Xisto Vermelho, at the foot of the Serra d'Ossa, our vines have been growing since 1989. Old vines of typical Alentejo grape varieties find in the terroir of Redondo a unique expression and character, which is translated, by the hand of our winemakers into unique wines of excellent value.
